ALCIDE (Analysis of Language and Content In a Digital Environment)
Description
The ALCIDE platform (Analysis of Language and Content In a Digital Environment) was born from the collaboration between two research centers of the Bruno Kessler Foundation in Trento: the Italian-German Historical Institute and the Digital Humanities group of the Center for Information and Communication Technology. Humanities historians and computer scientists worked together on building speech analysis software that combines language analysis tools with visualization models of complex data structures. The platform allows different types of automatic document analysis: extraction of key concepts, text search, recognition of names of people and places, network visualization, identification of co-occurrences, and complex analysis of the syntax and semantics of texts. The corpus used the entire edition A. De Gasperi, Scritti e discorsi politici, I-IV, created under the scientific direction of Paolo Pombeni (Bologna, il Mulino, 2006-2009).
