Historical Context Ontology (HiCO)
Title
Historical Context Ontology (HiCO)
Description
The Historical Context Ontology (HiCO) is an OWL 2 DL ontology designed to represent the context of a claim, focusing on hermeneutical activities by scholars during interpretation. It helps evaluate argument reliability by considering motivations, source types, dates, and relationships between claims. HiCO deals with events in the life-cycle of cultural heritage objects, such as creation by an agent at a certain time, supported by primary sources and recorded in secondary ones. It extends the PROV Ontology with hermeneutical aspects and uses other ontologies like CiTO for linking sources.
